Nobel Laureate Lecture Series “6th ASEAN BRIDGES Events in Indonesia Bridges – Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace” on 10 February 2017

We are delighted to inform you that Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with International Peace Foundation is organizing the Nobel Laureates Lecture Series in Yogyakarta as part of the 6th ASEAN BRIDGES Events in Indonesia – Dialogues Toward a Culture of Peace. Within this event, Universitas Gadjah Mada attempts to establish long-term relationships through the Nobel Laureates by enhancing science, technology and education as a basis for peace and development also to lead a better cooperation for the advancement of peace, freedom and security in Indonesia.

This series of lectures will be represented by the honorable 1993 Nobel Prize Winner in Physiology or Medicine, Dr. Sir Richard J. Roberts entitled ‘Why You Should Love Bacteria’ and 1979 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics, Prof. Sheldon L. Glashow entitled ‘How Basic Science Drives Technological Process.’ Dr. Sir Richard J. Roberts is a Research Director at New England Biolabs in Massachusetts/USA, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discoveries of split genes and mRNA splicing whereas Prof. Sheldon Lee Glashow was awarded the Nobel Prize together with Prof. Abdus Salam and Prof. Steven Weinberg for their complementary efforts in formulating the electroweak theory which explains the unity of electromagnetism and the weak force.

This event will be held at the Grha Sabha Pramana Hall, Universitas Gadjah Mada, on Friday, 10 February 2017, starting at 9 AM. It is also OPEN and FREE for all individuals of higher education institutions / universities, research and other relevant institutions who are actively involved and interested in the topics of the lectures as it would be a great opportunity to broaden network and knowledge in the area of expertise. Short Course “Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Contracts” 7 – 11 November 2016

Faculty of Law Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM) Jogjakarta in collaboration with TOTAL E&P Indonesie and Total Professeurs Associes (TPA) will present a 5‐day short course (Integrated Week‐  IW) “Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Contracts”. The lecture in this course will be conducted in English.

The course will be held in Fakultas Hukum UGM in room III.1.1 on 7th – 11th November, 2016. Lecture materials, snack, lunch, and certificate are FREE. Registration is at Secretariat of International Program FH UGM

The Organizer has a right to limit the participants if the total participants exceeding the limit (70 participants). The participants could be Bachelor/Master students in Engineering (Petroleum, Industrial, etc) or Economic who are interested in energy and environment control.

Note that the certificate will only be given for participants with a minimum attendance of 90% and more than 60% rating after examination (in the last day of IW i.e. on 11th November 2016).

Prerequisites : Basic knowledge in Engineering Schools, Business Schools, and Law.

Instructor

Jehan‐Eric Blumereau Born in 1948 is Doctor in Public Law (Paris University), he holds a higher diploma in Political Science and is graduate of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales and of the Institut de Commerce International.

He has spent most of his career in the French oil company Total, holding positions both in the E&P branch and at the Holding, including ten years in Latin America and in the Middle East.

Among others responsibilities, he has successively been in charge of negotiation of new business ventures (Exploration & Production), Chief Representative of the Company in the United Arab Emirates, and in charge of European affairs in Brussels.

He is presently Vice‐President of Total Professeurs Associés, a non‐profit organization delivering lectures of oil and energy experts into Universities and Grandes Ecoles in over 30 countries. He also invests part of his time at IFP School  ‐ Institut Français du Pétrole et des Energies Nouvelles . He is also Foreign trade advisor to the French government (Conseiller du commerce extérieur de la France).

Erasmus School of Law Junior Fellowship

The Junior Fellowship enables PhD candidates from universities outside the Netherlands to visit the Erasmus School of Law for 3 months. During this stay, the Junior Fellows will be able to discuss with senior staff members about their research and interact with other PhD candidates in the framework of EGSL activities.
